Maria Navarro Congratulates Deborah Melito for Winning the Nadra Floyd Award
After going 13 years without a contract, long time Clerical Unit President Deb Melito reached out to unit members suggesting they join CSEA . She then reached out to CSEA Organizing Team, Deputy director Jessica Riley, and Statewide organizer Grace Klein, who in turn reached out to Local 870 President Maria Navarro. Together with Babylon Unit Contact members Claire Joseph, Maria Gagnone and others, they worked together to help the members elect via membership vote to join CSEA.
Congrats to Deb for getting the ball rolling and to all Babylon Aides for voting CSEA as their Union. They are currently in contract negotiations with the Labor Relations Specialist Adrianna Lara. Together, with the input of the membership they are working hard to get a great contract to improve their quality of life. Teamwork is the motto of Local 870 and it clearly paid off as we welcome and congratulate all members for choosing to become apart of CSEA Suffolk Educational Local 870, CSEA/AFSCME Local 1000.
Deborah Melito was awarded the Nadra Floyd Award for Organizing at CSEA’s recent 114th Annual Delegates Meeting.
